About ISItems

Technology has become an important tool that holds great promise for increasing access to information and promoting learning. We've all been fascinated by the capacity of technology to organize large bodies of information and we've been excited by information networks, such as the Internet, that link students throughout the world into communities of learners. However, technology is more than just a rich resource of information and state-of-the-art hardware and software applications. It is a powerful pedagogical tool capable of creating environments where students can learn by doing, receive feedback, refine their understanding and increase connections between school, work and their communities.

ISItems is a periodic newsletter that aims to provide a medium for communication between Instructional Systems, Inc. and practitioners in the field. Each edition will feature additions and enhancements to the ISI Management System/Courseware and usage tips. We also
spotlight customer successes and models of implementation. Special editions will explore how new technologies can be used to:

• Bring curricula based on real-world experiences into the classroom;
• Provide tools to enhance learning;
• Give students and teachers more opportunities for feedback, reflection, and revision;
• Build local and global communities that include administrators, instructors, employers and students;
• Expand opportunities for teacher learning.
